Carney, Distance Medley Relay Shine on First Day of Penn State Open

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The first day of action at the Penn State National Open was highlighted by the Colleen Carney winning the 5,000m and the Spiders' second place DMR team.
Carney bested the 5,000m field by ten seconds, crossing the line at 17:17.88. Not far behind Carney was fellow Spiders Kylie Regan (17:37.68) and Ave Grosenheider (17:37.93) who placed fourth and fifth, respectively.
The distance medley relay team of Amanda Corbosiero, Maria Acosta, Brooke Fazio and Haley Preschutti finished at 11:35.71 to take second place. Monmouth edged out the Spiders with a time of 11:26.43.
Haley Berkeley checked in at 10.14 in the 60m hurdles preliminary rounds to place 26th overall. In the 60m dash, Nai'lah Rowe turned in a time of 8.08 while Morgan Towe crossed at 8.13.
Rebekah Greene represented the Spiders in the long jump placing 17th overall with a mark of 4.90m.
The Spiders will be back in action tomorrow in the final day of the Penn State National Open. Action begins at 10:30 a.m. and will be available on the BTN Plus. Live results are also available.
