Spiders Post Strong Showing on First Day of Fred Hardy Invitational

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond Track and Field program had a strong showing on the first day of the 13th annual Fred Hardy Invitational.
Claire Brown took second in the 1,500m turning a time of 4:33.59, which is an ECAC qualifying time. Peyton McGovern rounded out the top five at 4:39.03. Freshmen Julia Willcox (4:45.70) and Caroline Robelen (4:46.90) took 11th and 12th, respectively. Madeline Ustanik (5:04.86) and Abigail Seaberg (5:04.86) also competed in the event.
In the Division I race, Erika Echternach was the first student-athlete to cross the finish line in the 3,000m steeplechase and the sophomore finished fourth overall in the field with a time of 12:07.39.
After winning her heat, freshman Rebecca Fagan placed fourth overall in the 5,000m in a time of 18:34.58. On the men's side, Miles Clikeman won the event at 14:48.36. Johnny Hogue took third in a time of 15:04.55.
Noah Yuro (4:03.46) and Seamus Otto (4:07.23) finished in the top-10 in the men's Division I 1,500m race.
The meet continues tomorrow with field events beginning at 9:00 a.m. and action on the track getting underway at 11:00 a.m. Prior to the start of the running events, Richmond will honor its seven seniors.
