Spider Baseball Falls To George Mason, 5-1

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond Spiders baseball team fell to the George Mason Patriots, 5-1, at The Diamond in Richmond, Va. on Sunday afternoon.
Despite the loss, Richmond won the series with the Patriots with a doubleheader sweep of Mason on Saturday. With the setback on Sunday, Richmond falls to 9-8 on the season overall and to 2-1 in Atlantic 10 conference play. George Mason improves to 8-11 and 1-2 in league play.
OF Michael Morman continued his hot-streak on Sunday, going 2-for-4 with a double, while SS Tyler Beckwith also had a two-base hit in the loss. 1B Doug Kraeger had a RBI single for the Spiders.
On the mound, LHP Dylan Stoops pitched five innings of one run relief, striking out five. Freshman RHP Sean Collins made his collegiate debut, tossing one scoreless inning. RHP Peter Bayer (0-3) took the loss for the Spiders.
The Spiders will be back in action on Tuesday when the team plays host to in-state rival William & Mary at 3 p.m. in Shepherd Stadium in Colonial Heights, Va.
