Kiana Marshall Named A-10 Player Of The Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Junior Kiana Marshall (Bridgetown, Barbados) went 3-1 in singles and was named Atlantic 10 women's tennis Player of the Week, announced Tuesday by the league office.
Marshall has been outstanding for the Spiders during the first 11 matches going 9-2 in singles. This past week, Marshall was 3-1 with her only loss coming against James Madison at No. 1 singles. JMU's Daria Afanasyeva snapped Marshall's nine-match winning streak in singles.
Marshall started the week with a huge comeback win against the College of Charleston's Eva Nyikos, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, to clinch the 4-3 win for Richmond. Marshall had to move up to No. 1 singles after an injury to Emily Dunbar and went 1-1 at the top spot with a win against Samford's Grace Jennings, 6-3, 6-2.
The Spiders host A-10 opponent George Washington in an important match for Tournament seeding on Saturday, March 23, at 2 p.m. at the Westhampton Tennis Courts.
