Women’s Basketball Lands Graduate Transfer Daijia Ruffin

Alabama transfer Daijia Ruffin will join the University of Richmond women’s basketball program as a graduate transfer, head coach Michael Shafer announced on Thursday.
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va.– Alabama transfer Daijia Ruffin will join the University of Richmond women's basketball program as a graduate transfer, head coach Michael Shafer announced on Thursday.
Ruffin will be eligible immediately after graduating from Alabama in 2018. Ruffin played in 13 games for the Crimson Tide in 2017-18. She scored a season-high eight points against Jacksonville and pulled down a season-high six rebounds against Georgia Southern.
Ruffin, a 5-foot-9 guard from Louisville, Kentucky, averaged 14 points, 5.7 rebounds for UT Martin in 2015-16. Ruffin was a three-time Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week honoree and was the league's player of the week in 2015 after a 22-point performance at Southern Illinois.
Ruffin played high school basketball at Sacred Heart Academy for head coach Donna Moir and was a finalist for the 2014 Kentucky Miss Basketball award. She appeared in 35 contests as a senior where she averaged 21.1 points, 11.0 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 2.1 steals. Ruffin earned first team All-State honors in 2014 and was a member of the second team in 2012 and 2013. She is also a three-time all-district and all-region selection.
