Porter Vaughan was an outstanding left-handed pitcher for Richmond during the late 1930's. He held UR season and career records for hits and strikeouts per nine innings. Vaughan joined the big leagues with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1941. He served the University as chairman of the Athletic Council, and as a member of the Board of Trustees and Board of Associates. Born May 11, 1919, in Stevensville, Va., Vaughan founded C. Porter Vaughan Inc. Realtors.
