Dr. E. L. Clements, a 1956 Richmond graduate, was a longtime team physician for University of Richmond athletic teams. For nearly 30 years, Dr. Clements voluntarily directed the University's sports medicine program. A noted orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Clements is recognized nationwide as a pioneer in the advancement of athletic training and sports medicine. He retired in December 1998.
