In 1969, E. Claiborne Robins, Sr., a pharmaceutical executive and UR alumnus pledged a $50 million gift to the school. It was the largest gift to a U.S. university by a living benefactor at the time. A donation of $10 million enabled the University to build the athletic/academic complex which is now the Robins Center. This is just one of the many gifts presented to the University by the Robins family. Mr. Robins was a staunch supporter of a strong athletic program.
