Richmond Men's Golf Team Finishes In A Tie For 15th At The VCU Fall Preview

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The University of Richmond men's golf team finished in a tie for 15th place with UNC Chalrotte at the two-day VCU Fall Preview on Tuesday with a 28-over-par total of 604. Contested at the Ford's Colony Marsh Hawk course, senior Bryan Stark (Herndon, Va./Herndon) paced the Spiders by firing a total of five-over-par 149 (76-73=149, +5) to tie for 31st place.
Virginia Tech claimed the tournament, posting one-over-par 577 and were paced by Brendon De Jong, who claimed individual medalist honors with a two-under-par score of 142. He defeated Georgia Southern's Travis Mobley in a playoff.
For Richmond, junior Ryan McLain (South Hadley, Mass/South Hadley) tied for 46th place with a seven-over-par 151 (75-76=151, +7), while senior Joe Horowitz (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) carded rounds of 81 and 73 to close play in a tie for 73rd at 10-over-par 154. Meanwhile, sophomore Steve Lessing (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) posted an 11-over par 155 to tie for 79th (80-75=155, +11). Freshman Geoff Reilert (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) finished in a tie for 103rd (76-83=159, +15).
Richmond will complete its 2000 fall schedule by visiting the Old Dominion University/Seascape Collegiate Tournament on Monday and Tuesday, October 30-31.
