Spiders Finish 12th at Navy Fall Intercollegiate

Annapolis, Md. (Sept. 9) - The Spiders improved upon yesterday's total, chipping eight strokes off their first round score of 305, posting a 297 composite team total on Sunday afternoon at the final round of the Navy Golf Classic. The Spiders finished the tournament at plus 34 and 28 strokes off the pace of tournament winner Vanderbilt.
Junior Kyle Hess (Buffalo, N.Y./Nichols School) tied for 21st place, while setting the pace on the final day shooting a team tournament low of 71. Senior Mark DiGiacomo (Lebannon, Pa./Lebanon Catholic) and junior Steve Lessing (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) chimed in with scores of 73 and 74 respectively. Freshman Steve Sherck and sophomore Sam Sikes (Huntsville, Ala./Huntsville) rounded out the top five turning in scores of 79 and 80.
Vanderbilt, University of Pennsylvania, and Army secured the top three spots after Sunday's action.
The Spiders hit the links again September 22-23 at the JMU Golf Invitational in Harrisonburg, Va.
