Richmond Rally Falls Short

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - David Corley connected with Rich Musinski for two touchdowns and Mike Nagelin kicked three field goals Saturday as William and Mary took a 23-0 lead and withstood a Richmond rally in the final 12 minutes to win 23-20.
The Tribe (7-3, 6-2 Atlantic 10) got on the board in the first quarter with Nagelin's field goal for 36 yards. Corley extended the lead with 16- and 31-yard passes to Musinski in the second.
The Tribe ended the half after Marques Bobo intercepted a Sean Gustus pass and returned it to Richmond's 22 yard line. Nagelin kicked his second field goal for 28 yards as time ran out, giving the Tribe a 20-0 lead.
Richmond (2-8, 2-6 Atlantic 10) rallied in the fourth with a 5-yard run by Gustus with 8:57 remaining. Kenny Dantzler's 5-yard TD run cut the lead to 23-12 with 3:22 left.
The Spiders final score of the game came with 3:02 left after recovering an onside kick. Gustus threw 50 yards to Boyd Ouden to bring the final score to 23-20.
The Tribe was held to 74 yards rushing compared with the Spiders' 260 yards. Corley threw 12-of-27 for 218 yards and rushed for 35 yards.
