Football Earns Nine All-Atlantic 10 Honors

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond football team placed nine student-athletes on the All-Atlantic 10 team as voted by the league's coaches, it was announced today.
Senior defensive linemen Josh Spraker and Jonathan Wilfong both earned first team honors after leading a defense that ranked 11th nationally, yielding just 279.8 yards per game. Spraker finished the season with 49 tackles, nine tackles for loss and four sacks. Wilfong recorded 61 tackles, and tied for the conference lead with 9.5 sacks. He ranked seventh with 16 tackles for loss.
Richmond also placed three players on the All-Atlantic 10 second team. Senior safety Chad Blackstock, senior offensive lineman Ken Farrar and senior cornerback Jason Hill earned the distinction. Blackstock led the team with four interceptions and made 66 tackles. Hill made 38 tackles, two interceptions, and ranked among the A-10 leaders with 11 pass break ups. Farrar led an offensive attack that ranked eighth in the nation in rushing (249.8 yards/game).
Also honored from the offensive line, on the A-10 third team, were senior David Pustylnik and sophomore Joe Wilson. Junior linebackers Adrian Archie and Mark Thompson also earned third team honors. Archie led the team with 89 tackles and tied for the team lead with 52 solo stops. Thompson ranked second on the team with 82 tackles and tied for fourth in the A-10 with 18 tackles for loss.
The Spiders (3-8, 3-6 Atlantic 10) completed their season on November 23 with a 35-7 win against Massachusetts.
