Richmond Golf In A Tie For Eleventh Place At The Furman Intercollegiate

FURMAN, S.C. - The University of Richmond men's golf team shot an opening round score of 11-over-par 299 and are in a tie for 11th place with Wofford College among the 21-team field following the first round of the 32nd Annual Furman Intercollegiate. Contested at the par-72, 6,800-yard Furman University Golf Course, the Spiders are 14 shots off the pace set by the tournament host Paladins (285, -3).
Individually for the Spiders, senior Bryan Stark (Herndon, Va./Herndon) carded Richmond's best round of the day, firing even par 72 to sit in a seven-way tie for 12th place. Senior Joe Horowitz (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) shot two-over-par 74, while junior Ryan McLain (South Hadley, Mass./South Hadley) posted 75 on day one. In addition, sophomore Steve Lessing (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) finished with a score of six-over-par 78. Junior Mark DiGiacomo (Lebanon, Pa./Lebanon Catholic) had 83.
The 54-hole event resumes with 18 holes on Saturday, March 24, before the final round on Sunday, March 25.
