Spiders Finish 11th At Furman Intercollegiate

Greenville, S.C. - On day three, Richmond's men's golf team had its best round of the Furman Intercollegiate at the Furman University Golf Course. The Spiders shot five-over-par 293 to finish with a three-day total of 901 (31-over-par), 11th out of 21 teams. Richmond was 37 shots behind the winner, Virginia Tech.
Senior Bryan Stark (Herndon, Va./Herndon) fired a two-over-par 74 on Sunday to finish tied for 33rd at nine-over-par (72-79-74=225). Senior Joe Horowitz (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) was one shot behind Stark (74-77-75=226), as was junior Ryan McLain (South Hadley, Mass./South Hadley), who shot one-over-par 73 during round three (75-78-73=226). Junior Mark DiGiacomo (Lebanon, Pa./Lebanon Catholic) had Richmond's low round of the day on Sunday, shooting one-under-par 71. He also had the Spiders' low round on Saturday and finished the tournament tied for 57th (83-75-71=229). Sophomore Steve Lessing (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) finished at 22-over-par 238 (78-82-78).
Richmond will participate in the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday, March 26 and 27 in Williamsburg, Va.
