Spiders Win Golden Horseshoe Invitational

Williamsburg, Va. - The University of Richmond men's golf team finished 12 strokes ahead of second place William & Mary as the Spiders captured the Golden Horseshoe Invitational in Williamsburg, Va. Richmond was the top team amongst 18 entries. The Spiders shot six-over-par 294 on the second day for a team total of 592, 12 shots better that the host Tribe.
Richmond claimed the top three individual spots. Senior Joe Horowitz (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) was the medalist at two-under-par 142 (70-72) on the par-72 course. Junior Mark DiGiacomo (Lebanon, Pa./Lebanon Catholic) placed second, three shots behind Horowitz. He fired a 74 in the second round after a 71 on day one. Senior Bryan Stark (Herndon, Va./Herndon) was third, shooting a two-under-par 70 on the second round after 77 on day one.
The Spiders will participate in the Lonnie D. Small Memorial Tournament in Buies Creek, N.C. on April 2-3.
