Spiders Finish Third At Liberty Ramada Classic

Penhook, Va. - The University of Richmond golf team finished third out of 11 teams at the Liberty Ramada Classic at The Water's Edge Country Club in Penhook, Va. The Spiders shot 586, 10 shots over par. Richmond was 12 strokes behind first-place Penn State and five shots behind James Madison.
Junior Mark DiGiacomo (Lebanon, Pa./Lebanon Catholic) finished third individually with a three-under par 141 (71-70). He was the only Spider to lower his score from the first round to the second round. Senior Joe Horowitz (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) tied for eighth with a two-over-par 146 (71-75). Junior Ryan McLain (South Hadley, Mass./South Hadley) shot 149 (73-76), senior Bryan Stark (Herndon, Va./Herndon) shot 150 (74-76) and sophomore Steve Lessing (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) shot 155 (74-81).
Richmond has concluded its regular season and awaits a bid to the NCAA East Regional May 17-19 at Ford's Colony Golf Course in Williamsburg, Va.
