Spiders Finish 22nd At NCAA East Regional In Men's Golf

Williamsburg, Virginia - The University of Richmond men's golf teams concluded its 2001 spring campaign with a 22nd place finish at tne NCAA East Regional at the Golden Horseshoe Green Course in Williamsburg, Virginia. The Spiders registered a team score of 892, 28-over-par. Richmond did have its best round on day three, shooting six-over-par 294.
Senior Joe Horowitz (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) tied for 49th individually with a one-under-par score of 215 (71-72-72). Junior Mark DiGiacomo (Lebanon, Pa./Lebanon Catholic) shot 222 (73-78-71), senior Bryan Stark (Herndon, Va./Herndon) shot 225 (76-74-75), junior Ryan McLain (South Hadley, Mass./South Hadley) shot 230 (77-77-76) and sophomore Steve Lessing (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) shot 243 (82-78-83).
East Tennessee State won the regional with a team score of 828, 36 shots under par.
