Nationally-acclaimed sportswriter Frank Deford visits UR

Frank Deford, one of the country's premier sportswriters and a commentator for National Public Radio, will open the 2001-2002 Jepson Leadership Forum with a speech on the business of sport and the triumphs and disappointments of athletic endeavors today.
Deford will speak on Monday, October 1, at 7:30 p.m. in Camp Concert Hall at the Modlin Center for the Arts. Paul Duke, veteran journalist and commentator, will introduce Deford. There will be a book signing following the talk.
A senior contributing writer for Sports Illustrated, Deford has been voted National Sportswriter of the Year six times. His speech will be approximately 60 minutes, with a 30 minute question and answer session to follow.
Deford's address will be webcast live, and viewers are encouraged to send their questions to forum@richmond.edu. Some of the questions submitted to this address will be asked during the webcast.
