Women's Golf Completes Lady Pirate Fall Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The University of Richmond women's golf program improved in every round to post a 15th-place finish at the Lady Pirate Fall Intercollegiate in Greenville, N.C.
The Spiders fired a three-round 1043 (357-348-338) at the par-71 Greenville Country Club Golf Course. Host East Carolina captured the team title with a three-round 905 (296-307-302).
Freshman Lauren Ritter (Watchung, N.J.) bested her previous career low twice as she led the Spiders with an 88-81-82-251. Her previous low round was an 83 that she shot at the Bay Tree Classic and equaled at the Lady Kat Invitational.
Freshman Elizabeth Cushing (Westwood, Mass.) tied Ritter for the lowest round shot by a Spider with her third-round 81 (a career low). Cushing combined a first-round 89 and a second-round 88 for her 258.
Classmates Lesley Monachino (Shaker Heights, Ohio) and Whitney McComis (Bridgeport, Texas) also competed for head coach LaRee Sugg. Monachino shot a three-round 265 (90-90-85), while McComis followed with a 271 (90-89-92). Sophomore Kristen Folgosa (Fayetteville, Ga.) also played for Richmond and carded a 92-93-90-275.
Augusta State's Leah Hart fired a final-round 67, four strokes better than anyone in the tournament today, to capture the individual medal. Her 212 (73-72-67) was six shots better than runner-up Rebecca Twiner of Western Carolina.
The Spiders return to action at the Pine Needles Women's Championship in Southern Pines, N.C. from Nov. 4-5.
