Track & Field Earns All-Atlantic 10 Honors

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Eleven University of Richmond track & field student-athletes earned All-Atlantic 10 honors following outstanding performances at the 2002 Verizon Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Sports Backer Stadium in Richmond, Va. from May 4-5.
Juniors Cathleen Campbell and Ruth Chege earned First Team honors on the women's side while sophomore Boyd Ouden and freshman Joe Mallory garnered the distinction for the men's team.
Campbell won the heptathlon, while Chege captured the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:32.16. Ouden won the 110-meter high hurdles when he crossed the line in 15.20, while Mallory's 48'00.75" leap in the triple jump was a conference best.
Second Team honors went to the women's 4x100-meter team, junior Rachel Shrewsbury and sophomore Diane Schreiber. The team of Sarah Stuber, Ashley Bell, Jennifer Coles and Julee Wilson finished second after running a 47.97. Shrewsbury was second in the shot put (44'07.5") while Schreiber was the runner-up in the hammer throw (148'1")
Sophomore Clement Johnson was a two-time Second Team honoree after finishing second in both the 100- and 200-meter dash. Johnson finished .01 seconds (10.72) behind the winner in the 100 and .03 seconds (21.96) back in the 200.
Both the men's and women's team finished fifth at the conference meet.
