Women's Golf In 15th After First Round Of Lady Kat Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- After one round of play at the Lady Kat Invitational in Lexington, Ky., the University of Richmond women's golf team stands in 15th place. The Spiders, playing in their second varsity tournament, shot a 330 in the opening round.
Freshman Lesley Monachino led the Spiders with a 78 in the first round at the University of Kentucky Golf Course. Freshman Whitney McComis shot the team's second best round with an 82.
Classmates Sarah O'Neill (87) and Elizabeth Cushing (101) also competed for the Spiders.
The University of Tennessee shot a blistering 290 in the first round, 11 shots better than second-place Mississippi State. The Volunteers also staked claim to the leader, Jessica Shepley (-3/69), and the second-place individual, Violeta Rezamoza (-2/70).
The second round will be played on Saturday, Sept. 14 and the final round will be played on Sunday, Sept. 15.
