Women's Golf Final Round Washed Out

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The final round of the 2002 Lady Kat Invitational was cancelled because of rain and the tournament's results following the second round were declared official. The University of Richmond, in their second varsity event, tied Northern Kentucky for 15th.
Playing at the University of Kentucky Golf Course in Lexington, Ky., the Spiders fired a 679 (330-349). Tennessee won the team crown after firing a two-round 604 (290-314), eight strokes better than second-place South Florida. The Volunteers' Violeta Retamoza shot a 144 (70-74) and held off teammate Jessica Shepley (69-76-145), by one stroke, to capture the individual medal.
The Spiders were led by freshman Sarah O'Neill (87-85-172) follwed Monachino for Richmond. Freshmen Lauren Ritter (83-93-176) and Elizabeth Cushing (101-100-201) also competed.
Richmond returns to the course at the Princeton Invitational from Sept. 28-29.
