CAREER PATH LEADS TO UR: Changing Course
Sugg becomes first women's golf coach

LaRee Sugg says she always knew, somehow, that this is where the currents of destiny would carry her. Not into a coach's office at the University of Richmond, necessarily, but into a role that would require her to nurture, to encourage, and yes, to teach.
Sugg, a former UCLA All-American and LPGA Tour regular, has packed her playing career in mothballs - for the moment, at least - and accepted the challenge of constructing a women's golf program at UR. The 32-year-old Petersburg native has very little formal coaching experience but says she has been preparing for this assignment for much of her life.
"I come from a family of educators," Sugg said. "So in that respect, probably this was inevitable - a natural progression, almost. Teaching always has been and I suppose always will be a big part of who we are and what we do in my family."
