UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Three University of Richmond student-athletes received Atlantic 10 honors for their play throughout the past week. Senior Sarah Adams (Tulsa, Okla.) was named Field Hockey Player of the Week and teammate Emma Bradley (Kybybolite, South Australia) earned Rookie of the Week. Sophomore Parker Hughes (Anniston, Ala.) garnered Men's Golf co-Performer of the Week.
Hughes earned his first career top-15 finish by tying for 13th at the James Madison Invitational over the weekend. He ended his three rounds with an even-par 213, after tying his career low with a pair of one-under-par 70s. Richmond tied for fourth place in the 18-team event, which equaled the Spiders' highest finish under second-year head coach Kevin Lynch.
A senior back, Adams scored both Spider goals in the 2-1 victory over #11 Virginia on September 18. It was Richmond's first-ever win against the Cavaliers in a series dating back to 1975. Adams recorded three shots in the Spider's 3-0 win over Davidson and one shot in the loss to #16 Duke. She has scored three goals and recorded one assist on the season. Her seven points are tied for second best on the team.
In Richmond's 3-0 victory over Davidson on September 20, Bradley scored her first two collegiate goals. Bradley came off the bench in the first half to spark the team by scoring both goals off penalty corners. As a midfielder, she has played in six games for the Spiders and started two. While playing at the Pembroke School in Adelaide, Australia, Bradley was a two-time All-State member and five-time All-District representative in the State County Championships.
