PHILADELPHIA - Senior Kyle Hess continued his torrid play, earning his second consecutive top-10, when he tied for fourth at the Big 5 Invitational played on the par-71 Philadelphia Cricket Club Golf Course this weekend. The Spiders earned their best finish of the season - third - after carding a 604 (297-307).
Coming off a tie for 7th at last week's Xavier Invitational, Hess shot matching 74s (148) in the two-day event. He ranks second on the squad with a 72.8 scoring average while playing in all 13 rounds this fall.
Freshman John Pelet, who leads the team with a 71.6 scoring average in 13 rounds, fired matching 75s (150) to finish eighth. This was his third top-10 in five events during his rookie campaign.
Also playing strong of late, sophomore Tyler Randol earned his second top-10 of the fall, tying for ninth after shooting a 75-77-152. He follows Pelet and Hess in the team scoring average with 73.3.
Senior Steve Lessing (73-81-154/T-17) and Sam Sikes (79-82-161/T-45) also competed for head coach Kevin Lynch.
The Spiders complete their fall schedule at the Hoya Invitational, in Leesburg, Va., from Oct. 26-27.
