UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va.-Freshman Caitlin Smyth (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) won the Rookie of the Year accolade, as the University of Richmond women's cross country team, coached by the conference Coach of the Year Lori Taylor, won the Atlantic 10 Championship today in Philadelphia, Pa. The men's team was led by All-Conference selection senior Tim Caramore (East Greenbush, N.Y.), who took seventh place overall, while the men took fourth as a team.
The women's cross country team collected five of the top 10 finishers to earn their championship title. Senior Lori Taylor was named conference Coach of the Year.
"I am just really proud of the team because they have worked so hard all season," head coach Lori Taylor said. "They came out and executed today and ran with confidence. Most importantly, they are having a lot of fun."
For the men's team Caramore was the top performer with a seventh overall finish at the 25:36.1 mark. His best performance of the season earns him All-Conference honors and led the men to a fourth place finish.
The Spiders will compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 15th.
