Richmond's Rashad Smith Nets Atlantic 10 Accolade

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Sophomore Rashad Smith (Philadelphia, Pa.) earned Richmond's first Atlantic 10 accolade of the indoor track and field season. Smith, competing in his first indoor meet of the season, garnered A-10 Rookie of the Week.
The defensive end on the Richmond's football team shattered the 60-meter record in the preliminaries with a time of 6.93. He broke the first men's indoor record of the season in the 60-meter dash taking first. In the finals, the defensive end and sprinter finished third with a time of 6.99. Smith also bolted to a fourth place finish in the 400-meter (23.02).
Richmond track and field returns to action Saturday, February 15 at the George Mason Open.
