Athletic Department Food Drive A Success

RICHMOND, Va. - More than 150 University of Richmond student-athletes, coaches and administrators conducted an Easter food drive to benefit Pennies For Heaven, a local non-profit organization that provides food for homeless and low-income people, on April 19.
The Spiders spent five hours on Saturday morning at Ukrop's Super Market, on the corner of Patterson and Three Chopt, accepting donations from several kind folks from the Richmond community.
Many people stopped to talk with the student-athletes about the cause and Spider sports in general. Following the food drive, the donations were collected and taken to Pennies For Heaven where it will distributed to those in need.
This Easter food drive was organized by Richmond's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, a group with representatives from each of the 19 varsity sports.
