Spiders Take Over Television On Wednesday

University of Richmond athletics will be featured prominently on national television this Wednesday evening.
The excitement begins when Comcast Sports Net (shown in the Baltimore, Washington D.C. and Richmond area) honors Spider senior Tony Dobbins as its College Player of the Week at 6:30 p.m. in the first of three episodes (10 p.m. and 1 a.m.). Dobbins' drained the game-winning jumper with 1.3 seconds remaining to defeat #10 Kansas on Thursday.
The Kansas victory will then be shown on ESPN Classic at 9 p.m. Dubbed an instant classic by the nation's sports leader, the Spiders' dramatic 69-68 victory to snap the Jayhawks' 52-game streak against unranked opponents at Allen Fieldhouse will be shown in its entirety.
On HBO at 10 p.m., former Spider football star and current NASA astronaut, Leland Melvin, will be featured on the network's Inside the NFL Super Bowl show. The segment will honor Melvin for his college and professional playing careers as well as his work as an astronaut.
