Track And Field Fares Well At The Raleigh Relays

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va.-For the second consecutive weekend senior Diane Schreiber (Johnsonburg, Pa.) and Beth Crocus (Bethlehem, Pa.), of the University of Richmond women's track and field team, shattered their own hammer and javelin records at the Raleigh Relays.
Schreiber launched the hammer to a distance of 158-01, nearly eight feet further than her previous record of 150-09 from last week and captured 12th place in the event.
Crocus posted the new javelin mark at 142-04, close to a foot further than last week, for eighth-place, while freshman Lindsey Smith (Pottsville, Pa.) claimed 11th with a distance of 139-05.
Senior Pat Barkhuff (Groton, Mass.) of the men's track and field team finished fourth overall in the 1000M at 3:56.45.
Seniors Kevin Rhue (Virginia Beech, Va.), sophomore John Ciccarelli (South Bury, Conn.) and freshman Paul John (Schenectady, N.Y.) made up the 4x1500 team that finished ninth with a time of 15:59.67.
The Spiders face VCU, Radford, and William and Mary in a quad-meet today at Sports Backers Stadium.
