Purcell scored 11 goals in two games as the Spiders split weekend action, losing 11-10 at Towson and winning 20-13 at La Salle in the Atlantic 10 opener. Her seven tallies against the Explorers established a career high. Purcell added eight ground balls and five draw controls.
Season-To-Date Recap
After eight games, Purcell leads the team with 24 goals. With the addition of six assists, Purcell has notched a team-high 30 points. She also leads the Spiders (4-4) with 34 ground balls.
From The Coach
"I was extremely pleased with Polly's performance last week," Head Coach Sue Murphy said. "She showed tremendous leadership on the field with much time spent prior to those games watching film, making adjustments and individual workouts working on her shooting. The extra time obviously paid off for Polly and our team as her shooting percentage improved dramatically. Polly is very capable of controlling the pace of the game for us and it is important to have the ball in her stick in pressure situations. It's good to see her healthy again and impacting as much as she did this past week."
