Jim:
With the $20 million goal that is part of the "Transforming Bright Minds" campaign, what will be done within the Robins Center with this capital?
Rick
Richmond
Jim's response
Rick:
We are proud to be part of the University's "Transforming Bright Minds" campaign, an aggressive undertaking that will provide the resources to ensure that Richmond remains at the pinnacle of higher education. Athletics has always been an integral part of the university. Our student-athletes are a shining example of the quality person that is shaped by the University of Richmond.
Over the past few years the Robins Center has received several improvements, including renovated locker rooms and office suites, new weight rooms, a permanent basketball floor, murals and banners and a new lobby area. The goal of these changes is to improve our student-athletes' experience during his/her college career.
The capital that we receive through the Spider Athletic Initiative, our part of the University's campaign, will be used for specific projects that are designated by the benefactor or for several other projects that have been completed or are still on the horizon. Some of those projects include the new locker rooms, weight rooms, and a new scoreboard.
It is amazing to think that the Robins Center is more than 30 years old. We receive so many positive comments every time an opponent or member of the community enters the Robins Center. As well as housing a majority of our athletic programs and administrative offices, this facility is home to campus recreation and several class rooms.
Because your question was featured on Ask the AD, you will receive two complimentary tickets to a Spider athletic home contest. Come visit the Robins Center!
