UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
The weekly Richmond football and men's basketball coach's radio show, The Spider Sportsline, will air live this year from Buffalo Wild Wings, 7801 West Broad Street in the Olde Towne Shopping Center.
Known for its wings and sports atmosphere, Buffalo Wild Wings will host football coach Dave Clawson's radio show in the restaurant's spacious main dining area on Wednesday nights from 7-8 o'clock beginning September 8. The men's basketball show will be on Monday nights from 7-8 o'clock, with coach Jerry Wainwright scheduled to make his first appearance at Buffalo Wild Wings on December 6.
Both coaches anticipate bringing staff members and players to the show, giving fans a chance to talk, ask questions and meet their favorite Spiders, plus win prizes and game tickets, while enjoying Buffalo Wild Wings full menu.
Spider students will enjoy the show even more. Buffalo Wild Wings is offering a special Spider Student Savings - the more points the Spider football team scores on Saturdays, the more Spider students save on Wednesdays!
When the Spiders score up to 19 points, students will receive a 10 percent savings on their total bill. When the Spiders score 20-29 points, the saving increases to 20 percent. When coach Clawson's team lights up the scoreboard for 30-or-more points, students will enjoy 30 percent off their total bill. A valid UR ID card must be presented between 6-9 o'clock on the night of the show to receive the savings based on the Spiders score from the previous Saturday's game. A similar Spider Student Savings is planned for the basketball show.
A preseason football edition of The Spider Sportsline with Coach Dave Clawson will be held at the University of Richmond Bookstore on Wednesday September 1 from 7-8 o'clock. A men's basketball show with coach Jerry Wainwright will be held at the Bookstore on Monday November 29 from 7-8 o'clock. The Bookstore has hosted the first coach's show of each season for the past three years.
The Spider Sportsline enjoyed a successful four-year run at Extra Billy's restaurant, which remains a major corporate partner. A longtime favorite of Spider fans, Extra Billy's will continue to handle many catering opportunities for Richmond athletics. During the basketball season, Extra Billy's will be the exclusive radio network sponsor of the Extra Billy's Extra Special Player of the Game, featuring a live interview with a Spider player.
The Spider Sportsline will be broadcast live on the Spider Sports Network. The show will be carried by WRNL-AM (910) in Richmond, WWWR-AM (910) in Roanoke, WNRV-AM (990) in the New River Valley and WPMH-AM (670) in Hampton/Tidewater. The program can also be accessed worldwide on the web at RichmondSpiders.com.
