AUGUSTA, Ga. - The women's golf team, playing with only four players due to injury, finished 11th at the America's Choice Mortgage Lady Jaguar Invitational in the Spiders' last tournament of the 2005 fall season.
The scores were high throughout the two-round, 36-hole tournament at a challenging par-72, 6,094-yard Forest Hill Golf Club. Only one team posted a round under 300 and that was tournament champion Augusta State which posted a 299 Tuesday.
Without being able to drop a score in either round, the Spiders finished with a 674.
Sophomore Natasha Lopez Moreira (Asuncion, Paraguay) led Richmond with a 164 to tie for 36th. Junior Ashley Lambert (Bradenton, Fla.) and freshman Rosario Germino (Necohea, Argentina) each tied for 40th with a 165. Senior Whitney McComis (Bridgeport, Texas) took 65th with a 180.
The Spiders will have a three-month layoff to get healthy and will open the 2006 spring season on Feb. 21 at the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians Championship in Miami, Fla.
