Women's Golf Holds Second After Saturday's Second Round

HOT SPRINGS, Va. - Although it lost three additional strokes during the second round of the 2005 CAA Championships, the Richmond women's golf team (308-319--627) is within striking distance of tournament leader James Madison (304-316--620), just seven strokes back heading into tomorrow's final round at The Homestead.
Sophomore Ashley Lambert (74-77--151) carded a team-low 77 on Saturday and climbed into a tie for third with teammate Ally Caffrey (73-78--151), two strokes behind UNC Wilmington's Becky Berzonski (72-77-149), the first-round leader, and James Madison's Diana Meza (75-74--149).
Spider freshman Natasha Lopez Moreira still ranks in the top-10 after shooting a second-round 83 for a 158 (75-83) following Saturday's 18 holes.
Junior Lauren Ritter improved by five strokes with an 81 today to give her a 167 (86-81) and a tie for 18th. Classmate Lesley Monachino is tied for 33rd with a 181 (93-88).
The Spiders hold a slim one-shot lead on the Seahawks of UNC-Wilmington (319-309--628) and Xavier (320-308--628) who are tied for third.
Richmond finished second in last year's event played at Richmond's Salisbury Country Club.
