UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Head Coach LaRee Sugg announced today that Rosario Germino has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Spider women's golf program for the 2005-06 season.
A member of Argentina's national team for five years, Germino finished in the top-5 all five times she competed in the South American Junior Championships. Her team earned runner-up honors twice and finished third three times.
"Rosario will be a huge asset to our team," Sugg said, "because she brings extensive international team experience. I see her playing a crucial role in helping attain our ultimate goal of winning the CAA championship next spring. Her fun-loving spirit, work ethic, and natural ability on the golf course make her a valuable asset to the women's golf team and the entire University of Richmond community."
The Necochea, Argentina native was named the best athlete in her hometown last year. She won the 2004 Argentinean Open and shot a career-low 68 while winning the 2003 Enrique Santos Championship in Guayaquil, Ecuador. She also earned top-10 performances in three Optimist International and one Doral Publix events.
