Jim Miller Announces Staff Changes

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - University of Richmond director of athletics Jim Miller announced two administrative changes effective immediately.
David Walsh has been promoted to Deputy Athletic Director. In this capacity, Walsh will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the athletic department and serve as the administrator for football and men's and women's basketball. Walsh had served as Senior Associate Athletic Director /Internal Operations the past two years when he managed 17 of the 19 varsity programs and various administrative areas. Walsh, who came with Miller from NC State in 2000, has been an integral part of the recent success at Richmond. Under Walsh's guidance, the Spiders have earned 20 conference championships and 21 NCAA post-season team and individual appearances in the Spiders' four years as an Atlantic 10 Conference member.
LaRee Sugg assumes the role of Assistant Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator. Sugg, the Spiders' women's golf coach each of the past three seasons, will have primary responsibility for partnering with head coaches of the 16 other sports and overseeing other sport-related services.
"David Walsh's leadership has been an important factor in Richmond's unprecedented success," Miller said. "He has provided the leadership it takes to win championships and graduate student-athletes. He has demonstrated the ability to attract, and partner with, successful head coaches. One of those individuals is LaRee Sugg. I am pleased to add her experience as a national champion student-athlete and program-chartering coach to our administration."
