Men's Tennis Falls Short At Davidson, 4-3

DAVIDSON, N.C. - The University of Richmond men's tennis team fell short at Davidson, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon in Davidson, N.C. The Spiders swept all three doubles matches and earned wins from Sami Belakhlef and Chris Louis in singles action in their loss as they dropped to 7-10 overall on the year.
Richmond's Matt Stillwagon and Bobby McNally paired up at No. 1 doubles for a 9-7 victory over Flaviu Simihaian and Ethan Jaffee, while the Doug Banker/Brett Waikart and Louis/Michael Sommer duos earned wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles, respectively, to give the Spiders the doubles point.
After sweeping the doubles matches, Simihaian and Jaffee gave Davidson a 2-1 lead with victories at number one and three singles over Banker and Stillwagon.
Richmond's Belakhlef and Louis then tied things up at 3-3 with wins at number four and five singles, before Bermeo took home the victory for the Wildcats with his three set match win over McNally. The Wildcats completed their victory with a win at No. 6 singles as the Spiders' Michael Sommer fell to Scott Myers.
The Spiders will return to action on Friday with a home match with Howard at 2:30 p.m.
