UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Soccer Buzz Magazine recently recognized University of Richmond 2006 women's soccer recruits Kristen Stalter and Jennifer Ruhe as two of its top individual recruits in 2006. While Stalter was named a Soccer Buzz Top 100 Recruit, Ruhe was recognized as a Soccer Buzz Top 150 Recruit.
Stalter, a playmaking forward from Strongsville, Ohio, was a member of the U-16 National team, was a NSCAA Regional All-American, was a member of the Ohio All-State Second Team, and was a two-time Ohio State Champion and an US U-17 Adidas All-Star.
Richmond head coach Peter Albright is really excited about having Kristen join the Spiders and expects her to bring flair and skill to the Spiders' attack. "She is extremely skilled, really understands the game, and is a lot of fun to watch," stated Albright. "She can really make things happen."
Ruhe, a First Team All-State selection from Frederick, Md. and a member of the Region I ODP team, brings skill and breakaway speed to the attacking midfield position.
"With her tremendous speed and skillful 1v1 ability, Jenny will be able to attack out of the midfield and distribute to our forwards," stated Richmond assistant coach Brooke Sands. "She is not afraid to shoot from long range and has scored some great goals in her high school career. She certainly deserves to be recognized as a top 150 recruit in the country."
Carter Blair, Erin Iman, Jessie Knight, Nora Mann, Kelsey Rdzanek, Kristin Runey, and Kate Rutkowski, will join Stalter and Ruhe to complete the Spiders' recruiting class of 2006.
