Utley Named A-10 Player Of Week; Courtney Earns Rookie Of Week

University of Richmond sophomore Jordan Utley was named Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Player of the Week and freshman Tim Courtney earned A-10 Rookie of the Week after the Spiders won the Drew Upton Memorial Invitational hosted by Towson on Saturday and Sunday.
Utley posted his third top-5 finish of the 2005-06 season, finishing third at 4-under-par 140. The Richmond native carded a 4-under-par 68 in the opening round and followed that up with an even-par 72 in the second round Sunday. Utley has now shot six rounds at even-par or better and three rounds in the 60s this season.
Utley, who is earning his first Atlantic 10 Player of the Week award, leads the team with a 73.8 stroke average. He earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors once as a freshman last spring.
This is Courtney's fifth Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honor to go with one A-10 Player of the Week award. Courtney tied for 19th at 1-over-par 145 after carding a 1-over-par 73 on Sunday. He shot even-par 72 in the first round Saturday.

The Midlothian, Va. native has also shot six rounds at even-par or better this season. He is fourth on the team with a 74.6 stroke average.
Richmond used its best round of the season, a 5-under-par 283, to take the first round lead at the Drew Upton Memorial Invitational and then shot a 5-over 593 in the second round to win the tournament at even-par 576.
The victory was the second of the 2005-06 season for the Spiders. Richmond also won the Big 5 Invitational in October.
Richmond has a quick turnaround, playing in the Marshall Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
