Jonathan Molz Named To Men's Track & Field Academic All-Conference Team

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond sophomore Jonathan Molz was selected to the Atlantic 10 Men's Track & Field Academic All-Conference Team, in voting conducted among the Conference's sports information directors.Molz was the Atlantic 10 champion in the indoor 1,000-meter run in a time of 2:31.84, earning him first-team all-conference honors. Molz also finished 16th in the Olympic Development 1,500M at the Mount San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) Relays in Los Angeles, Calif. in a personal best time of 3:54.85.
"This is a great honor for Molz, he is very deserving of this," Richmond head men's track & field coach Steve Taylor said. "Jon works hard both in the classroom and on the track and we are looking for bigger and brighter things from him in the next two years. It's very impressive to receive this recognition as a sophomore."
The East Northport, N.Y. native won the mile run at the Liberty Invitational in Lynchburg, Virginia in a facility record time of 4:18.36. He took third in the outdoor 800 at the Carolina Tarheel Classic in 1:57.29. Molz finished third in the 3,000 steeplechase at the Fred Hardy Invitational in a time of 9:34.95. He also anchored the Spiders 4x800 Relay at the Atlantic 10 Championships to a season best 7:40.81 with a split of 1:55.1.
Molz, who is a psychology major at Richmond, attended Commack High School in New York.
