Pelet Named Academic All-Conference

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond junior John Pelet was named to the Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Academic All-Conference Team, in voting conducted among the conference's sports information directors.
Pelet finished in a tie for fifth at the 2006 Atlantic 10 Championship at 5-under-par 211 to earn all-conference honors. He shot a 4-under-par 68 in the first round and a final round of 5-under-par 67, which tied for the best round of the tournament.
The Philosophy major was fourth on the team in the 2005-06 season with a 75.4 stroke average. He led the Spiders in three tournaments, including the last two of the season.
Pelet shot a 1-under-par 71 in the final round of the 2006 NCAA East Regional at Lake Nona Golf & Country Club.
"This is a great honor for John, I'm proud of his accomplishments," Richmond head coach Adam Decker said. "He has worked hard in the classroom and on the golf course throughout the year."
Richmond advanced to the 2006 NCAA Men's Golf Championships for the first time since 2001 and the fourth time in school history. The Spiders finished fourth at the 2006 Atlantic 10 Championship and won two tournaments on the year.
