Richmond finished second at the conference outdoor championship for the third time in five years competing in the Atlantic 10. League newcomer Charlotte won the women's championship with 210 points, followed by the Spiders with 112 points and Rhode Island with 97.25.
"This is a great finish for us, the girls did a quality job," Richmond women's coach Lori Taylor said. "We finished off the year about as best we could. This is pretty exciting."

"The throwers and Nicole (Kurtain) in the steeplechase got us going yesterday and we carried that over today," Taylor said. "Each event today we got good points and we were able to hang in there. This was a total team effort, it was a really great effort."
Freshman Jasmine Major gave the Spiders their third individual title of the 2006 Outdoor Championship, winning the 100 hurdles in a time of 14.57.
