UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Junior Jessie Wolfe scored two goals and had an assist as the Richmond women's soccer team remained unbeaten in conference play with a 4-0 victory over St. Bonaventure on Friday night at First Market Stadium.
The Spiders (3-6-2, 2-0-1 Atlantic 10) took a 3-0 lead at the half and Wolfe added her second goal of the game in the 73rd minute to make it 4-0. Senior Carrie Holland and sophomore Nora Mann also scored goals. Junior Sarah Hilt and sophomore Kelsey Rdzanek had assists.
"We brought a lot of energy tonight and I thought our forwards did a great job of creating repossessions," Richmond head coach Peter Albright said. "The entire team showed a really positive attitude about scoring."
Wolfe scored the Spiders' first goal just 9:23 into the match when she headed in a corner kick by Hilt. Wolfe's second goal was a blast from 30 yards out at the top of the box off an assist from Rdzanek. Wolfe leads the team with three goals and seven points.
"Jessie had two great goals, she's really turned the corner," Albright said. "In my opinion she is clearly one of the top midfielders in the Atlantic 10. She played extremely well tonight."
Holland made it 2-0 in the 17th minute when Knight sent a cross from the left wing to the right side and Holland was there to put it inside the far post. Mann made it 3-0 with three minutes left in the first half when she took a pass from Wolfe on the right wing and ripped a shot that the deflected off the goalkeeper and found the side netting at the far post.
"We only have one goal, and that's to get quality points when we can get them," Albright said. "These were three great points tonight. They beat us last year, so this is a big win for us."
The Spiders return to action on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. against Duquesne. That game will be the second of a doubleheader with the Richmond men's team hosting Rhode Island at noon.
