CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Richmond sophomore Jeff Strojny placed second in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 3:58.67 and sophomore Sean Welsh was third in 3:58.94 at the Lou Onesty Invitational, held Friday and Saturday.
Richmond sophomore Garrett Graham finished eighth in 4:02.32 and took 35th in the 800 run in 2:00.04. Sophomore Derek Jensen was 13th in the 1,500 (4:04.31), sophomore Greg Hoffman was 19th (4:06.01), freshman Jon Wilson was 30th (4:09.99) and sophomore Dan Petty was 45th in 4:17.52.
Junior Neil Slotterback placed sixth in the javelin with a toss of 172-2. Freshman Alex Nourse was 26th in the 200 in 23.95 and 40th in the 400 in 53.93 seconds. Richmond's 4x400 relay team of Strojny, Welsh, Jensen and Hoffman took sixth.
On the women's side, Richmond freshman Amy Van Alstine was the runner-up in the 3,000 in 9:56.66, while sophomore Mary Bertram took 16th in 10:39.78.
Sophomore Jasmine Major finished fifth in the 100-meter dash in 12.58 and was ninth in the 100 hurdles in 15.23 seconds. Freshman Monique Hawkins took 12th in the 100 dash 12.84, sophomore Marissa White took 18th in 13.46 and sophomore Stephanie Lapp took 20th in 14.03.
Freshman Heather Roush was eighth in the discus in 126-10 and took ninth in the javelin in 110-7. Freshman Megan Ney was ninth in the long jump in 17-3 1/4.
Freshman Kerry Kelly took 15th in the 400 hurdles (1:08.95) and was 21st in the 100 hurdles (18.15). Junior Tara Markey finished 14th in the 800 in 2:20.18 and was 20th in the 400 in 1:00.63. Freshman Jasmine Cottle took 15th in the 400 in 59.69. Sophomore Emily Nagle finished 24th in the 1,500 in 4:56.52 and White finished 26th in the 200 in 28.29.
Richmond's 4x100 relay team of Cottle, Hawkins, freshman JoAnna Ubiwa and Ney finished sixth in 49.82.
