BALTIMORE, Md. - Freshman Heather Roush broke her own school record as she won the discus at the Legacy Invitational on Saturday.
Roush threw the discus 144-feet-0 to break her previous school mark by two inches and win the event. She also finished third in the javelin with a personal best toss of 124-8 and took ninth in the shot put with a heave of 37-8.
On the men's side, freshman Andrew Benford lapped the field to win his first 5,000-meter run on the track in 14:46.42 and junior Hunter Willis ran the anchor leg of the 4x800 relay without one of his sneakers, but still led the Spiders to victory.
Willis lost a sneaker during the handoff with sophomore Garrett Graham, but ran the last leg of the relay in 2:17.2 which was good enough to give Richmond the win. Junior Jonathan Molz (1:56.7), sophomore Jeff Strojny (1:57.1) and sophomore Garrett Graham (2:00.8) helped give the Spiders a lead that the one-sneakered Willis could protect.

Freshman Alyssa Mankin finished seventh in the 1,500 in 5:00.25 and freshman Jasmine Cottle placed 15th in the 400 in 58.56 seconds.
