Men's Golf Shoots 3-Under Par In Second Round Of Atlantic 10 Championship

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. - Sophomore Tim Courtney shot a 3-under-par 69 as the Richmond men's golf team shot a 3-under 285 in the second round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament on Saturday at Orange County National Golf Club.
Richmond had the third lowest team score of the day and its best round of the season to move up to seventh place, just four strokes behind sixth-place George Washington (588) and six strokes behind fifth-place Saint Joseph's (586).
"We regrouped nicely after Friday's round," Richmond head coach Adam Decker said. "Now we have to go out Sunday and put together another round like this."
Courtney is tied for 11th entering Sunday's final round. He shot a 74 in the opening round and Saturday's 69 on the par-72, 6,849-yard Panther Lake Course put him at 1-under-par 143 for the tournament.
Spider senior John Pelet shot an even-par 72 Saturday after a 73 in the first round to sit in a tie for 18th at 1-over 145. Junior Billy Hanes carded a 1-under-par 71 in the second round and is tied for 37th. Junior Jordan Utley is also in 37th at 8-over 152 after shooting a 1-over 73 Saturday. Sophomore Grant Rafield shot a 77 on Saturday and is tied for 51st with a 159.
The third and final round of the 2007 Atlantic 10 Championship will be played Sunday morning with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.
