BEALLESVILLE, Md. - Junior Robert Lindstrom is tied for fourth after shooting an even-par 71 and the Richmond men's golf team is in second place after the opening round of the Georgetown Intercollegiate, played Monday at The Members Club at Four Streams.
Lindstrom is two shots off the lead entering the second and final round to be played Tuesday. The tournament was originally scheduled for 54 holes, but a prolonged frost delay Monday caused only 18 holes to be played.
The Spiders had a 291 Monday and are four shots off the leader Miami of Ohio. William & Mary and Campbell are tied for third, four shots behind Richmond.
"The guys played really well today," Richmond head coach Adam Decker said. "Robert really put together a solid round. It's always good to be in a position to have an individual and the team both with a chance to win a title on the final day of a tournament. Now we have to go out tomorrow and see what we can do."
Sophomore Michael Shrader shot a 1-over 72 and is in a tie for eighth, while freshman Brad Miller continued his strong play to open his collegiate career, carding a 2-over 73 to sit in a tie for 14th. Miller won the Frank Landry Invitational last week in his collegiate debut and was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on Monday.
Richmond senior Tim Courtney is tied for 27th after shooting a 4-over 75 and junior Grant Rafield is tied for 56th with a 79.
