UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Junior Robert Lindstrom finished third, two shots out of first place and the Richmond men's golf team also placed third at the Georgetown Intercollegiate, completed Tuesday at The Members Club at Four Streams.
The tournament, originally scheduled for 54 holes, was trimmed to 36 holes due to a prolonged frost delay on Monday. Lindstrom shot an even-par 71 in the first round on Monday to sit in a tie for fourth and then carded a 3-over 74 in the final round Tuesday to move into sole possession of third place at 3-over 145.
"Scores were a little bit higher today, but Robert did a great job under the conditions," Richmond head coach Adam Decker said. "This is a great way for Robert to end the fall season with some momentum."
The Spiders entered the final round in second place after shooting a 291 on Monday. Richmond shot a 308 on Tuesday which was the third-lowest team round of the day, but William & Mary carded a 300 to pass the Spiders for second place at 595. Richmond finished at 599 and Minnesota was fourth at 604.
Freshman Brad Miller, the reigning Atlantic 10 Player and Rookie of the Week, posted his second-straight top-10 finish to open his career, tying for ninth. Miller, who had won the Frank Landry Invitational last week in his collegiate debut, finished the tournament at 8-over 150 (73-77).
Senior Tim Courtney also carded a 77 on Tuesday, after an opening round 75, to finish at 10-over 152 in a tie for 21st. Sophomore Michael Shrader shot an opening round 72, but an 80 on Tuesday put him in a tie for 21st. Junior Grant Rafield tied for 54th at 159 (79-80).
