The Richmond defense allowed Delaware just 53 yards of total offense on 40 plays (1.3 yards/play). The yardage sets a Richmond record for fewest by an opponent, breaking the previous mark of 81 by William & Mary in a 6-6 tie on Nov. 24, 1955. The 53 yards is also the fewest by Delaware in a game.
The Blue Hens' only scoring came on a 57-yard INT return for TD by Tyrone Grant and a 45-yard fumble return for TD by Charles Graves.
The Spiders limited Delaware to just three first downs (one passing, one rushing and one by penalty) and tied a Spider record for fewest total first downs allowed and fewest rushing first downs allowed. Richmond limited Furman to three total first downs and one rushing in a Nov. 8, 1969 game.
